DUI (Driving Under the Influence)
Driving under the influence (DUI) is a criminal offense. When an individual drives a motor vehicle, such as a car, motorcycle, bus, truck or SUV, while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, this is against the law. The individual may face charges regarding his/her particular blood alcohol concentration or regarding the impairment of his/her driving abilities.
When a driver has a blood alcohol concentration of .08% or higher, this is considered to be above the legal limit and may result in a DUI arrest. Specific consequences associated with driving under the influence charges will vary depending upon the state, as well as the circumstances of the charge.
