DWI (Driving While Intoxicated / Impaired)
Depending upon the state, drunk driving may be referred to as DUI (driving under the influence), DWI (driving while intoxicated / driving while impaired) or OUI (operating under the influence). State laws will vary as regards the penalties and specific criminal offenses associated with drunk driving. Specific laws and penalties for DWI will apply depending upon the driver's age (such as a driver under the age of 21) or if the driver has a commercial driver's license.
