DUI Accident Kills 3 People in Chicago

Today, news stories are reporting that a 43 year old woman and resident of Gardner, Illinois was arrested after police caught her driving under the influence (DUI).  While driving under the influence, the woman caused a lethal motor vehicle accident that killed a mother and the mother's two small children.  The accident too place in northeastern Illinois.

Sheriff Terry Marketti of the Grundy County Police Department released a statement that the DUI offender, Ann Marie Getz, was charged with felony DUI and disobeying a stop sign.  The deadly collision is reported to have taken place on November 6 at 8:00 PM.  Getz is accused of killing 27 year old Amanda Jahn Dwight and her two small children, 3 year old Ryan and 1 month old Kaitlyn.

According to the police department, Getz has a history of DUI and alcohol related traffic arrests.  She is currently in intensive care and under police supervision.

At this time, a court date is yet to be determined, but Getz faces jail time, fees, probation and monetary fines if she is convicted.
