"Hungry Eyes" Singer Sentenced for DUI

Eric Carmen, the 1980's singer best known for his one hit wonder, "Hungry Eyes", was sentenced yesterday for driving under the influence (DUI).  Carmen was ordered to spend 180 days in jail for his criminal offense, which occurred last fall in the state of Ohio.

Carmen was sentenced in Bedford Municipal Court by Judge Peter Junkin.  Judge Junkin ordered the 59 year old singer to begin serving his sentence on April 25th.  However, he also suspended the majority of Carmen's imprisonment, which means the singer will only have to serve 30 days in jail.

Aside from having to serve time in prison, Carmen was placed on probation for one year and he was told that he would be subjected to random drug and alcohol testing.  He must also pay $1,500 in fines and court fees as well as enroll in and complete an alcohol-education program.

Police reports reveal that at the time of his arrest, Carmen's blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was more than twice the state's legal limit.  While driving drunk, Carmen crashed his Range Rover into a fire hydrant.  He later pled guilty to charges of dangerous driving and DUI.
