Mississippi Student Killed by Drunk Driver

In Hattiesburg, Mississippi, a freshman attending the University of Southern Mississippi was killed this morning.  18 year old Lejulia Dorothy White was riding with three other students and heading to Taco Bell when their vehicle was struck by a SUV.

According to police reports, White was killed instantly.  She had been sitting in the front passenger seat when the car was hit at approximately 1:20 AM on U.S. 49 ad Hardy Street, which happens to be one of the busiest intersections in Hattiesburg.

The other students riding in the car did not incur any life-threatening injuries, save for one who was listed in critical condition, but has since stabilized.  Police say that the DUI offender, 55 year old Ronnie Matthews, was charged with driving under the influence and may face additional charges in the near future.
