Maryland Man Charged with DUI after Causing Two Accidents

In Hagerstown, Maryland, a man was recently charged with driving under the influence (DUI).  According to police, 84 year old Carroll Broome was charged with DUI after they noticed that he was driving the wrong way on I-70.

While driving the wrong way, Mr. Broome managed to cause two car accidents before being stopped by police on Monday afternoon.  Police say that only one person suffered injuries from the accidents and that the injuries were minor.

Monday afternoon, police began receiving calls from people stating that a vehicle was traveling east in westbound lanes on I-70.  An officer arrived at the scene and noticed a stopped vehicle along the median of the Interstate, just east of MD-65.

Maryland police say that the two accidents caused by Broome were minor.  One accident occurred near Exit 28, but the drivers inside the other vehicles were able to get out of the harm's way.  The other accident occurred when Broome crashed into the side of another car, which caused the car to crash into another nearby vehicle.

Broome is expected to appear in court and face his charges in the near future.
