DUI Offender Not Allowed to see Son

Recently, a young mother was caught driving under the influence (DUI) in a Walmart parking lot located in North Dakota.  After her arrest and detention, she was told that if she makes bail, she would no longer be able to see her 4 year old son.

The woman, 23 year old Chelsey Jo Hansen, was charged with DUI this past Sunday when officers found her in a store parking lot with her son in the back seat.  Once the incident occurred, the boy's father requested a no contact provision because he claims Hansen has been stopped by law enforcement before while her son was in her care.

Local law enforcement set Hansen's bail at $1,000.  She was told that if she makes bail, she must avoid her son and alcohol.  Prior to the arrest, she lived with her son and his father, but will now need to look for a new place to stay.

On November 12th, Hansen pled guilty to theft charges.  At first, she had planned to plead guilty to her DUI charges, but then changed her mind.
