San Diego DUI Checkpoint Yields Multiple Arrests

This weekend in Poway, California, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department reported that it had arrested five people on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), three people for drug possession and one for possession of a weapon.  All of the arrests were made at a DUI sobriety and driver safety checkpoint.

Police say that they held the checkpoint on Saturday from 7:00 PM until Sunday at 2:30 AM.  A total of 617 vehicle pass through the checkpoint, which was stationed at the 14300 block of Poway Road.

In addition to the nine people that were arrested for criminal offenses, officers also issues 11 citations for license violations and one citation for having an open container while driving.  Poway Sheriff's Traffic Units who were patrolling in the area also made three suspicion of DUI arrests.
