California Highway Patrol Cautions People against DUI over the Holiday Weekend

With the onset of the Memorial Day weekend approaching, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is cautioning people against drunk driving and is also telling motorists to wear their seatbelts.

The CHP told local news sources that officers would be in full force throughout the holiday weekend, starting from 6 PM on Friday till 11:59 PM on Monday.

In 2009, 45 people were killed on California roads during Memorial Day weekend.  Of the 45 people that were killed, the CHP says that 50% were not wearing their seatbelts.

Last year, the CHP reported that they may 1,465 DUI arrests and they plan to crack down hard this year, too.

If you have been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) during Memorial Day weekend and you would like legal help you can count on, now is the time to consult with a DUI defense lawyer.  By working with a DUI attorney, you stand a much greater chance of fighting your criminal charges in California.
