22 Year Old Arrested for DUI Post Accident

Last week, the California Highway Patrol said that a young man was placed under arrest after he hit another car. Instead of stopping at the scene, the young man drove away.

At approximately 9:00 PM, the California Highway Patrol received a call about a crash that took place on state Route 237 which is just east of the Great America Parkway in Sunnyvale.  One driver had been speeding and traveling in the wrong direction on the highway just before the DUI accident took place.

An officer with the CHP said that one person inside of a Nissan was injured during the collision. However, the extent of the person's injuries remains unknown.  It was also revealed that an officer with the CHP was hit during the crash because he was on the road directing traffic due to another coalition that had occurred just east of the accident. The officer allegedly suffered minor injuries to one leg and is expected to make a full recovery.

Through the use of one canine unit from the Police Department, officers were able to locate the 22-year-old man who had fled the scene of the accident.
