Police Host Several DUI Checkpoints in Delaware

Drunken driving checkpoints in Delaware were a success for the Newport Police on Wednesday night. A total of 26 people were arrested for driving under the influence while 2 more were nabbed for underage drinking. Between 8 PM and 4 AM 1.469 vehicles passed through the checkpoints, according to Newport Police Chief Michael Capriglione who heads the Checkpoint Strikeforce.

In addition, ten people were arrested in drug charges, recovered one stolen car, and eight wanted people. Tickets for an assortment of other traffic violations were given out to 72 people over the holiday weekend.

The checkpoints were open on Delaware 52 and Delaware 2.

If you have been charged with driving under the influence, one of the best things you can do for yourself is to hire a DUI attorney who is local to you.  An attorney can help you navigate through the legal process and contest your charges in and out of court.
