Woman Avoided DUI Checkpoint but Crashed Shortly After

A young woman unsuccessfully tried to avoid a DUI checkpoint last weekend only to become involved in a crash later on. The young woman realized that she was in line for a checkpoint and turned her car around in a parking lot nearby. Two police cruisers attempted to stop her but she accelerated instead after which they pursued her, joined by Detective Dave Bixler.

Although they briefly lost sight of her in the city, they soon came upon her crashed car in the 200 block of West Market Street. Police are still looking in to her case.

The checkpoints were successful in yielding other offenses. One man's car was impounded after officers found a 9 mm handgun inside. Seven people were given DUIs, several more were cited for driving under suspension, there was a criminal drug arrest, three warrants were served, and one person was given an underage DUI ticket.
