In Downey, news sources have confirmed that a 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed during a crash involving a drunk driver who was later arrested by police officers.

Detectives say the accident occurred at approximately 2:00 AM at Paramount Boulevard and Florence Avenue.  Following the crash, Sergio Rios Padilla of Huntington Park passed away at a hospital due to the injuries he suffered.

Police later arrested 31-year-old Daniel Sokyra of Los Angeles.  Sokyra was booked on charges of felony driving under the influence causing bodily injury and was held in lieu of $100,000 bail.  He did not suffer any injuries and allegedly ran a red light while driving home.  His pickup truck collided with Padilla's motorcycle and resulted in the death of the 23 year old.
