DUI Offender Found Guilty of Killing 5 Year Old

A jury in Will County found Cecil Conner Jr. guilty of aggravated driving under the influence that led to the death of his girlfriend's 5-year-old son. The jury didn't deliberate for too long before finding him guilty of both counts of aggravated driving under the influence for which he could face 14 years in prison.

Conner had already admitted to being drunk earlier in the day of May 10, 2010 when he crashed his red Chevy Cavalier into a tree. As a result of this crash in Steger his then-girlfriend's son, Michael Langford, lost his life.

His defense team argued unsuccessfully that the officers entrapped him, asking him to take the wheel. Attorney Jeff Tomczak said that, "If there's a mistake in this case, it wasn't Cecil Donner's. Don't hold him accountable for what that police officer did." This DUI crash occurred just after his then-girlfriend, Kathie LaFond, was arrested for driving with a suspended license.
