Over 800 Arrests Made in L.A. during DUI Checkpoints

The Fourth of July weekend brought fireworks, barbecues and over 800 DUI arrests in Los Angeles County.

Several law enforcement agencies came together to patrol the roadways for the "Avoid the 100" event. Dozens of DUI checkpoints were set up across the county, netting at least 836 arrests for individuals driving under the influence. These checkpoints were held from July 1 to July 4, the time when most people would have taken to the roads intoxicated over the holiday weekend.

In addition to checking for drunk drivers, law enforcement officials were also searching for expired registrations and suspended licenses, as well as any outstanding warrants. The next "Avoid the 100" event will be held in August after Labor Day.
