Woman Given 13 Months for Felony DUI

After pleading guilty to the felony drunk driving charges levied against her, a Billings woman has been sentenced to 13 months in prison.

According to court documents, the 38-year-old woman has been to prison before. She has a previous felony DUI charge, as well as six more felony convictions, for which she has already served time. Judge Susan Watters sentenced also demanded that the woman pay a $1,000 fine; she was also given a five-year suspended sentence in addition to her jail time.

In order to reduce her sentence, the woman took a plea deal from the prosecution. In exchange for pleading guilty to the felony DUI charges, the woman was not labeled a repeat felony offender. As a result, the woman was not charged for the three other crimes she committed: operation of a vehicle without ignition interlock, open container and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
