Waitress Killed by Drunk Driver

A loyal waitress will be missed after being killed by a drunk driver last week.

Jessica Wingate, 23, worked at the Knotty Pine Diner in Wampsville full-time, and was said to have never missed a day of work. Lee Ellsworth, the owner, said that Wingate was "one of the best waitresses I've ever hired." Her family and friends learned that Wingate was riding with her boyfriend, 29-year-old Alan F. McCarthy, when he crashed his crash into the Thruway near Syracuse.

The couple had been together just nine months before he caused this fatal crash. McCarthy, of Oneida, now faces charges of driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter. At this time McCarthy awaits his trial at the Justice Center in lieu of the $10,000 bail.

Have you been charged with vehicular manslaughter? This is a serious charge that can carry serious jail time. Don't rely on a court-appointed attorney to best protect your rights.  Instead, get in touch with a DUI attorney as soon as possible.
