DUI Stops in California

If you are arrested for a DUI in California, there are ways to minimize your risk of conviction.

Should you be pulled over for a DUI, the only three items that you have to give a police officer are your registration, license and proof of insurance. When an officer begins to ask you questions in relation to your DUI arrest, you will not be given Miranda warnings. That means that you can decline to answer all questions, which will better protect you in a court of law, as you will not have been able to incriminate yourself.

The best way to avoid being convicted for a DUI in California is to never drink and drive. If you decide to go out for a night on the town, bring along a designated driver or the number of a cab company. Although DUIs may be common in California, that doesn't mean that you have to be the next person arrested for one.
