Double DWI Offenders Add Evading Arrest and Criminal Mischief to Charges

As reported by Your Houston News and the Montgomery County Police Reporter, two young women have been charged with numerous offenses, including road rage that resulted in driving over a peace officer's foot, stemming from a DWI incident.

Two Montgomery women, R.A.S., 19, of Spring and R.R.W., 22, of Conroe, are currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail following their arrests on August 14.

R.A.S. has been charged with assault of a public servant – the off-duty Harris County Sheriff whose foot she ran over – DWI and criminal mischief. She is being held on a bond amount of $5,600.

R.R.W. has been charged with evading arrest with a vehicle and DWI. Her bail bond is set at $2,500.

Witness A.B. had four small children in her mini-van when she spied R.A.S.'s Mitsubishi driving erratically and blaring her horn. R.A.S. then approached the rear of A.B.'s vehicle, as if to nudge it to go faster, and drove into it – causing minor damage – just before the intersection of Rayford and Riley Fuzzel Roads.

A.B. felt that the accident was intentional. A.B. left her vehicle to speak to the two women in the Mitsubishi. Allegedly the two women cursed and called A.B. names. A.B. retaliated by threatening to phone the police. The two women got back in the car and drove away.

The Mitsubishi caught up with the mini-van again, as A.B. was about to enter the Creekside Village Subdivision. According to A.B. the driver blew through a stop sign at a high rate of speed, illegally passing another vehicle in their haste to get to A.B.

In a third attempt to get to A.B., the Mitsubishi pulled alongside the mini-van, and in full view of an off duty Harris County Deputy, began cursing and making obscene hand gestures at A.B.

The HCSO deputy approached the driver, R.A.S., and identified himself as a peace officer.

While attempting to talk to R.A.S., and ascertain whether she was drinking and driving, she attempted to drive away. In her hurry she drove over the officer's foot. It is unclear as to if this was a conscious or deliberate act.

At this point the HCSO deputy asked that R.A.S. step our of her vehicle. As she began to resist being detained the other occupant of her vehicle, R.R.W., took the wheel and drove off.

The MCSO was sent in to aid the HCSO officer in arresting the suspect.

MCSO deputies arrested R.A.S. when they arrived. A search for R.R.W. led officers to a nearby residence, which she had already left. MCSO was later able to track her down, stop the vehicle, and arrest her.
