DUI Accident and Death Leads to 18 Year Sentence

A young woman finds her life changed forever after deciding to drink and drive one night. She was sentenced to 18 years behind bars for taking the life of a construction worker last year. The defendant, 21-year-old B.L.H., was involved in a DUI accident that led to the death of B.S., 52, an employee for the California Department of Transportation. He was setting up road signs when he was struck by the drunk driver. B.L.H. went before a California judge this month and pleaded guilty to fleeing the scene of a crime, causing serious bodily injury and vehicular manslaughter.

There were six additional charges filed against her, all of which were dropped in exchange for a guilty plea. The judge sentenced her to 18 years behind bars for the accident.
