California Officers Work to Protect Drivers

With several Cinco de Mayo events planned for the weekend, law enforcement agencies across California geared up to protect the roadways from drunk drivers. Extra officers were on duty to conduct saturation patrols throughout high-traffic areas where festivals and parties would be taking place. According to the California Highway Patrol, its officers would be working with local officers to conduct saturation patrols and road blocks. As Cinco de Mayo usually leads to heavy drinking, the police officers were prepared to detain more drunk drivers than usual.

The southern region of California will be expecting even higher figures as there is a large Mexican population in residence that will likely be celebrating the holiday. This effort is part of a state program entitled "Avoid the 100 DUI Task Force" that is designed to help reduce drunk driving accidents and fatalities. Have you recently been arrested for DUI? If so, take the time to consult a DUI attorney near you.
