Conroe Police Enforce DWI Initiative for Superbowl Sunday

By Douglas W. Atkinson  Feb. 7, 2012 4:37p

For the fourth year in a row the Conroe Police Department enforced the game day initiative which resulted in 24 arrests on last year's Superbowl Sunday. The special DWI initiative, also known as the "No Refusal" initiative, makes it so any driver stopped by an officer between 7:30pm and 5:00am must submit to a breath (using a breathalyzer) or blood test. If that driver refuses, a search warrant was obtained so blood could be taken for the test. Last year 12 people refused a test and of those, half turned out to have a BAC (blood alcohol concentration) of at least twice the legal limit of 0.08%. On this year's game night at least 11 individuals were arrested who were suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Have you been arrested for drunk driving? Don't hesitate to talk to an Conroe DWI defense attorney.
