A Rhode Island woman is facing serious DUI charges after allegedly failing a number of sobriety tests. D.T. of Riverside was driving her vehicle on Wampanoag Trail on a recent Sunday evening when an officer clocked her vehicle as going 66 mph in a 45 mph zone. The officer followed the car and said he observed the vehicle drifting between lanes and the driver not responding to his lights and siren for some time before finally pulling over. The officer spoke with the 54-year-old driver and said he detected signs of intoxication including bloodshot eyes, the odor of alcohol and slurred speech. He asked D.T. to get out of the car to perform field sobriety tests which she allegedly failed. The officer reported that "She did not do well" on the physical coordination tests. She was given two breathalyzer tests which showed results of 0.281 and 0.284 percent blood alcohol concentration (BAC). These results are well over the 0.08 percent legal limit. The officer took her into custody and she was held over night at the Barrington Police Station.

Have you been charged with DUI in Kent County?

If you have been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in Kent County or other location in Rhode Island then you need an attorney immediately. DUI or DWI cases where the individual is accused of having a BAC much higher than the 0.08 percent limit while speeding or other recklessness could be facing felony charges. DUI in the presence of a minor, multiple DUI convictions, DWI involving accidents, injuries or fatality can also lead to felony DUI. If convicted you could be sentenced to several years behind bars, thousands in fines, the loss of your driver's license, community service, mandatory attendance in an alcohol or drug treatment program and other penalties. Do not face DUI charges on your own.
