Co-Founder of Crocs Blames Taylor Swift for DUI

The Crocs footwear Co-founder and subsequent billionaire George Boedecker Jr. was recently arrested for a DUI when he was discovered unconscious in his car. The 51-year-old fell asleep behind the wheel of his parked but running vehicle on August 14th, 2012 and a pedestrian walking by took notice. She was ogling at Boedecker’s Porsche Carrera when she noticed that there was a man slumped and unconscious behind the wheel. She tapped on the window, but the man kept snoozing. The witness called 911 because she was worried there might be a health concern. Police and an ambulance responded, but by the time that they arrived Boedecker was walking away from his car. Boedecker told the woman who had called 911 that he had just pulled over to take a nap, and that his girlfriend had been driving and that she was “bat crazy.”

Eventually, Boedecker went to get back in his vehicle, but he was apprehended by a police officer who wanted to have a word with him. That was when the officer caught the scene of alcohol on Boedecker’s breath. The billionaire slurred out an explanation of why he had stopped on the side of the road, and then began discussing his fictional girlfriend who had been driving. When Police Officer Patrick Vest asked Boedecker for his driver’s license, he says that the man fumbled around with his money clip and admitted to drinking cocktails at a benefit earlier that night.

Vest asked Boedecker what his address was, to which the billionaire replied that he had 17 homes. Boedecker then proceeded to tell Vest that his girlfriend had driven him to the location he was presently at and then ran off after they had been in an argument. He stated that he didn’t drive because he knew that he was intoxicated beyond the legal limit. The businessman also denied the witnesses’ account that he had been asleep in the front of the car. He told police that his girlfriend was really famous, and then asked the officer if he knew who Taylor Swift was. He explained that Taylor Swift had gotten out of his car and took off towards Nashville. At this point, he pointed to a yard a ways away.

Country start Taylor Swift is in a relationship with Conor Kennedy, and was photographed that same day in the Hyannis Port in Massachusetts. There is no reason to believe that Swift has any connection with Boedecker. The DUI suspect refused to participate in roadside maneuvers and did not turn around when asked. The police had to take hold of him and push him down on his vehicle in order to handcuff him. The man was verbally antagonistic as he was taken into custody, and was told that he needed to calm himself.

When he was taken to jail, he had his blood drawn and was placed in a private holding cell. He was later released on a $500 bond. The police say that it will take several weeks to receive Boedecker’s test results, but if he has a BAC over 0.08 percent he may be prosecuted for driving while drunk. Boedecker has publically apologized using a statement issued by his charitable foundation. He requests privacy as the incident unfolds. Crocs says that Boedecker resigned in 2006 and has no connection with Boedecker at this present time.
