Petaluma Police Make 24 DUI Arrests

In Petaluma, California, law enforcement agencies and local police departments report that they made 24 driving under the influence (DUI ) arrests also issued 30 traffic citations on December 19, 2008.  The arrests were made during a countywide crack down campaign against drunk driving known as Avoid the 13.

Petaluma police departments also report that during the saturation patrol they made 12 arrests for driving without a license or driving with a suspended license and 12 arrests for drug violations.  Additionally, they made 9 other criminal arrests and 7 vehicles that were driven by unlicensed drivers were impounded.  

Law enforcement stopped a staggering 286 motor vehicles and evaluated 57 drivers who were suspected of driving under the influence during the campaign.

The Avoid the 13 saturation patrol is comprised of 35 officers from 8 separate California police agencies in Petaluma, Cotati, Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Healdsburg, Cloverdale and Sonoma State University.

The total number of DUI arrests officers have made since the beginning of the campaign is 110.  The campaign started on December 12, 2008 and will continue till the end of the holiday season.
