Delaware Man Nearly Crashes into Police Officer while Under the Influence

In Wilmington, Delaware, a man named Christopher Hoelle is facing criminal charges for driving under the influence (DUI) after he nearly crashed into a police officer with his motor vehicle.

According to reports, the police officer was investigating an auto accident on Blue Rock Road when the drunken driver sped in front of him, narrowly missing a fully-marked police vehicle and the officer.

Police say that after other officers arrived and tried to stop Hoelle, he quickly put his car in reverse and drov away, leaving the officer he almost hit frozen in his tracks.

After speeding off, Hoelle returned to his home and parked in his driveway.  When police found him, he refused to step out of his car.  The officers struggled with him for a short time before they managed to restrain him.  Police say he could barely stand up and was incoherent.

At this time, Hoelle is in Howard Young Prison for DUI and other traffic violations he had committed.  He was unable to pay his $3,800 bail.
