Comedian Artie Lange Pleads Guilty to DUI

Artie Lange, the comedian and radio show personality best known as Howard Stern's sidekick, has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of a habit-producing substance.

Lange was arrested on July 10 on DUI charges following a minor traffic accident that took place in New Jersey. Fortunately no one, including Lange, suffered any serious injuries.

Lange claims the drugs in his system were prescribed sleeping pills, which he said he had taken the night before the accident.

The judge presiding over the case has revoked Lange's driving privileges for seven months.

DUI charges can be brought against any individual who is found to be under the influence of drugs, regardless of whether or not the drug in question is an illegal drug or a prescription or over-the-counter medication. As long as the drug has affected the driver's ability to safely operate the vehicle, the driver can be charged with DUI.
