Knoxville Man Dresses up as Woman to Avoid DUI Arrest

Knoxville, Tennessee - Law enforcement in Knoxville report that a man who assaulted a police officer tried to avoid arrest by disguising himself by changing into a set of women's clothes.

The man, who is 19, was arrested this past Monday for driving under the influence (DUI), assault on an officer, resisting arrest and also burglary.  Police also report that the man has four outstanding warrants.

According to Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk, the 19 year old assaulted Officer Andrew Gyorfi after being pulled over.  Officer Gyorfi pulled the young man over because he believed the man was driving a stolen vehicle in Chattanooga.  After being pulled over, the teenager ran into a nearby public housing project, walked into a woman's apartment and put her clothes on.  He left his own clothes in her apartment before fleeing.

Police captured him two hours later while he was walking down the street wearing the woman's shoes, jacket and pants.
