Woman Hits Dirt Embankment While Driving Drunk

This week, a Porterville woman suffered major injuries after her car crashed into a dirt embankment.  The woman, 23 year old Connie Monethichack, was later arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence as well as child endangerment.

Monethichack suffered serious injuries and her adult passenger, 29-year-old Ryan Hulon suffered minor injuries.  Police report that the one-year-old baby passenger remained uninjured.

The California Highway Patrol said that Monethichack was traveling eastbound on Avenue 96 and approaching a stop sign at an intersection on Road 192 at an unknown speed.  She failed to yield, drove straight through the intersection and then collided with an inclined dirt embankment.  Her car remained airborne for several feet and then came to rest on its wheels.

Monethichack was taken to Sierra View District Hospital for treatment of her injuries and later placed under arrest by police for theDUI accident.
