Man Charged in Fatal DUI- Was Also Texting While Driving

February 6th – A man under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs struck and killed a pedestrian while texting and driving.
The 40-year-old resident of the Chicago area and restaurateur was charged with aggravated DUI for prescription drugs (the painkiller Hydrocodone), aggravated DUI for alcohol, aggravated DUI for drugs and alcohol, and aggravated DUI for having a blood alcohol concentration over 0.08% and, four counts of reckless homicide, according to police. In Illinois, aggravated DUI is a Class 2 felony, which is punishable by 3 to 7 years in prison with a conviction.
The driver was released from jail following his arrest after posting $25,000 for the $250,000 bond last Thursday.
