Woman Under the Influence Thinks Officer is Sonic Drive-In Employee

In Elizabethtown, Tennessee, a woman who was at a Sonic drive-in mistook a police officer for a car hop.  According to reports, the woman was driving under the influence and in possession of drug paraphernalia when a police officer pulled her over.  Police were alerted this past Saturday when a driver called 911 to report that the woman had struck numerous vehicles while pulling into the Sonic drive-in.

When the police officer, Sarah Ellison, found the woman, she was slumped over the steering wheel of her car.  Officer Ellison tried to get the woman's attention.  However, instead of realizing a police officer was at her car window, the woman thought it was a Sonic car hop and handed the officer twenty dollars.  The woman continued to appear confused even when Officer Ellison identified herself several times.

Shortly after, the woman was placed under arrest.  Officer Ellison reports that she found a syringe, a spoon with white powder and several bottles of prescription medication in the woman's car.

This past Tuesday, the woman appeared in court to address her criminal charges.
