Actress Amanda Bynes Faces DUI and Other Charges

Though actress Amanda Bynes vehemently denies any guilt from her recent DUI and two hit and run charges, the media has begun to compare the young starlet's recent brushes with the law to be far too similar to that of actress Lindsay Lohan, as reported by the Huffington Post, the Los Angeles Times, ABC News and several tabloids.

Most recently, reporters have published a set of photographs of Bynes, 26, smoking a "drug pipe" while driving in Los Angeles – with a suspended driver's license. Allegedly, remnants of previous drug use are also visible in the photographs.

According to reporters, "In one shot, you see what appears to be remnants of marijuana in a cup holder…"

The two hit-and-run charges – the first, from this past April, was reopened by police after she was accused of a second hit-and-run in August – resulted in two misdemeanor charges.

The DUI charge against Bynes occurred when she drove into a sheriff's vehicle on April 6. She refused to submit to a Breathalyzer exam or a blood alcohol testing.

Bynes' father, Rick Bynes, also attested to reporters that his daughter had not been drinking in the April incident.

On May 27 Bynes issued this tweet to her social network followers, "I can't help but laugh at all of you writing fake stories about me. I was not in any hit and runs. I don't drink so the DUI is false."

Bynes sent a second tweet in June, this time directly to President Barack Obama, which read, "Hey @BarackObama... I don't drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don't hit and run. The end."

Bynes pleaded not guilty through her attorney to DUI on June 6.

Bynes' case is scheduled for September 27 in Van Nuys Superior Court.

A reporter with BuzzFeed, and responsible for posting the latest photographs of Bynes smoking from the alleged "drug pipe" wrote, "We should all be glad that she ditched her lilac hair, but maybe it's time we start to really worry about how closely she is following in Lindsay Lohan's footsteps."

The statement was echoed by another reporter, J.G. with the Los Angeles Times, that wondered if Bynes may be "driving down the Lindsay Lohan path. There's fresh trouble for Bynes, who, like reckless former teen star Lindsay Lohan, has seen her career take a downward dive with adulthood. (Two years ago Bynes, then 24, tweeted that she was retiring from acting and that she didn't find it fun anymore.)"

Bynes' last acting job was for a 2010 film titled "Easy A".

J.G. further remarked on the comparison between Lohan and Bynes, "This also brings to mind the 2011 Lohan incident when the actress, upon failing an alcohol test while under house arrest, said that she had been drinking a fermented health drink called kombucha, which contains a very small amount of alcohol."

Whether or not you are a headline-grabbing Lohan or a Bynes, contact a DUI attorney to properly represent for charges stemming from DUI, DWI, OUI or OWI.
