FIndCrocs Shoe Co-Founder Argues DUI Charge; Alleges Country Singer Taylor Swift was Driver

As reported by the Denver Post and other media sites, a well-known and very-vocal Boulder resident was recently arrested for DUI, though he claimed that another, equally important person, was the one behind the wheel.

One of the founders of Croc. Inc., George Brian Boedecker Jr., was arrested on August 12 after a witness reported seeing him passed out and sitting behind the wheel of his 2010 Porsche Carrera.

Boedecker, 51, allegedly told officers that it was Taylor Swift, a popular young female songstress, that he also alleged was his girlfriend, was the one that had been driving that evening.

Boulder Police reported that Boedecker appeared intoxicated, smelled of alcohol, slurred his words and had difficulty maintaining his footing. He was found in his vehicle – still running – at approximately 5:20 p.m.

When police arrived on scene, Boedecker exited the Porsche, which was parked partially on the sidewalk of the 3400 block of 22nd Street.

Allegedly Boedecker's story, that he had just come from a benefit, was difficult to confirm as he stated the event was at 11 at night, and then stated it was at 11 in the morning. Boedecker added that he had only been taking a slight nap after leaving the benefit.

According to the police report, Boedecker claimed that he had a fight with his girlfriend and she had left. Upon questioning, as to who the woman was and where she may have gone, Boedecker stated, she's a "really (expletive) famous" country singer.

Then Boedecker allegedly asked the officer if he know who Taylor Swift was and pointed to a yard near the vehicle and told the officer that Swift had gone – to Nashville.

Police did search the area but another person was not located.

Police were unable to get Boedecker to submit to roadside maneuvers and told officers, as he tried to get back into his car, to mail him his "citation or whatever."

During the entire incident, police stated that Boedecker was very uncooperative. He told officers that he would get "medieval", that the arresting officer would be his "enemy for life" and they would all be threatened with the loss of their badges.

In a request to get Boedecker's address, he told officers that he had "17 (expletive) homes."

The Crocs footwear company is based in Niwot. Boedecker attended Fairview High and the University of Colorado. Boedecker is also a benefactor for the Boedecker Theater in Boulder's Dairy Center for the Arts.

In a 2006 arrest, Boedecker faced charges of misdemeanor trespassing and threatening bodily injury for calling his sister's former husband on the phone to say, "I'm going to slit your throat."

Boedecker is currently free on $500 bond.
