DUI Arrests Decrease in San Diego this Labor Day

In San Diego, it is reported that officers from the California Highway Patrol arrested fewer drunk drivers over the Labor Day weekend than they did in 2009.  However, throughout the state, DUI arrests had increased when compared to last year's figures.

Police in San Diego conducted checkpoints from Friday at 6:00 PM until Sunday at 6:00 AM.  During that time, they arrested 49 people for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  Last year, during that same time, police officers arrested 60 people.

The CHP also reported that there were zero DUI related deaths over the weekend in San Diego.  Statewide, six people were killed between Friday and Sunday morning.
