Jury Recesses in Adenhart DUI Trial

In Santa Ana, a judge has found that a man that was charged with killing Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart while driving under the influence (DUI) and two others guilty this week.  The defendants were also found guilty of driving with a suspended license.

However, the jury presiding over the case is still considering the three murder counts and other charges and had to recess for the weekend without coming to a verdict.

On Friday, Orange County Superior Court Judge Richard Toohey found Andrew Gallo guilty of the count after a short bench trial.  Gallo wanted the count to be separate from the main case and waived his right to a jury trial.

Police say that 23-year-old Gallo was drinking with his step brother before he stepped behind the wheel on April 9th, ran a red light and crashed into another car that was carrying 22-year-old Adenhart as well as two others.

Gallo has pled not guilty to all of his criminal charges.
