DUI Arrests Decrease in California

Both good and bad news was released by the California Highway Patrol this week.  According to a recent press release, the number of DUI arrests declined across the state for the Thanksgiving weekend when compared to last year.

There were 227 DUI arrests in the Bay Area over the holiday weekend; in 2010, 249 DUI arrests were recorded in California over the same period. The bad news was that the number of alcohol-caused fatalities increased this year.  A total of 21 people lost their lives in alcohol-caused accidents this year, nine more lives than were recorded last year.

If you were recently arrested for driving under the influence, you may face serious penalties if you are convicted.  Therefore, you'll want to fight your charges with the help of a DUI attorney in your state of residence.  Remember, you are innocent until proven guilty and have the right to defend yourself.
