Officer Accused of Getting Behind the Wheel Intoxicated

A police officer caused a four-vehicle car accident and it was not in the line of duty. Officer D.S. was arrested last week on multiple charges after getting behind the wheel intoxicated. D.S., 42, was driving on a busy highway when she collided with another vehicle. Two more vehicles became involved in the accident that left at least one other person injured. When officers with the California Highway Patrol arrived on the scene, they quickly determined that the suspect was intoxicated. At one point she even kneed a fellow officer when he tried to arrest her.

She was brought to a local jail on charges of resisting arrest and DUI. She was later released on her own recognizance in lieu of $2,500 bail. Further details about the arrest are being kept from the media until the matter has been dealt with by her police department. The accident is still under active investigation.
