School Bus Driver Charged with DUI in Indiana

Today, news sources in Indianapolis are reporting that a 47 year old school bus driver by the name of Philip K. Leslie was arrested for driving under the influence.  Sources say that the man made two runs, transporting 104 students, while he was under the influence of alcohol.

After his arrest, Indianapolis law enforcement charged Leslie with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, public intoxication and child neglect.  He was charged with each criminal offense this past Tuesday.

According to Sgt. Paul Thompson, the spokesman for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, several students on the bus told their parents that they believed that their bus driver was intoxicated while driving them.  The parents then called and complained to the school district's transportation center.  The students told their parents that Leslie had weaved in between traffic lanes several times and had even hit a mailbox when he dropped one of the students off.

When police located Leslie, they administered a breath alcohol test.  His blood alcohol concentration was .22%.  In Indiana, the legal limit is 0.08%.

At this time, the spokesperson for the Franklin Township confirmed that the district plans to fire Leslie for his negligent behavior and illegal activity.
