Teacher Faces DUI Charges

A teacher did not set a good example in Milford last week after getting involved in a DUI accident. Kurt L. Schneck, 39, picked up a member of his wrestling team to discuss the increasing number of "C" grades on his report card. However, the student told police that Schneck started to consume alcohol in his presence as they were driving along Cedar Beach Road. Around 7:50 p.m. Schneck attempted to turn onto Del.1 but instead hit a stop sign, leapt over the guard rail and collided with a Del. 1 overpass perm and a small tree before the car finally came to a halt.

Luckily both passengers were uninjured by the accident. However Schneck, a Sussex Technical High School English teacher and wrestling coach, was officially charged with a DUI for his actions. In addition to the accident itself Schneck made the situation worse when he assaulted an officer who was attempting to take Schneck into custody. This led to an additional charge of attempting to resist arrest, as well as failure to have insurance, driving with a suspended license, endangering the welfare of a child while DUI and careless driving.

Schneck has already been arraigned and is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institute. He refused or declined to pay the $4,600 cash bail that could have set him free, if only temporarily.

If you've been charged with DUI, your best option is to hire a DUI attorney.
